The Social Butterfly team wanted to find a way to give back to the community and while in search of “what’s next”, we were approached by the lovely Gabriella’s Smile foundation. It was an honor to host an event for their foundation on October 19th, 2019 and Paint The Town GOLD. We take pride in all events we host but this one was extra special for the kids battling pediatric brain cancer (DIPG).
Gabriella’s Smile Foundation
This family owned foundation was created on March 30th, 2016, in loving memory of their daughter, Gabriella Elise. She courageously battled an inoperable brain stem tumor for close to eight months. The happiest little girl with the biggest smile that could light up a room was taken all too soon at the age of 6 years old. The support they received in trying time from family, friends and the community all inspired Gabriella’s family to give back. They wanted to build a foundation that could assist families fighting pediatric cancer, not only in the San Antonio area but nation wide. They found that with community behind you in a difficult time, only makes your fight STRONGER. As a family they continue to give back to others thru donations to their nonprofit. Knowing the struggle personally, they know what is needed and takes to fight a battle as a family. While your world stops to be there with your fighting child; your life at home does not, bills do not stop, work does not hold. Location
We hosted our Paint The Town Gold at The Cherrity Bar on 302 Montana street, San Antonio, Texas. This quaint location is dedicated to raising money for nonprofits, a way to drink and give back for cause. Every month they feature 3 charities to compete for 100% of bar profits. Customer are given tokens to vote for the charity of their choice. Each charity sets up a themed table for voting, all very creative and fun. We found it to be a great location to host our event and a fantastic way to give back double! We had delicious appetizers like gyoza, charred edamame and yakitori skewers all full of savory flavors. Paired with a signature drink for Social Butterfly that made the whole experience divine. The staff was absolutely a delight to work with and the atmosphere of the restaurant makes for a fun night.
Goodie Bags
We wanted to make sure this event was giving back in every detail possible. Instead of handing out swag bags to guest, that may never be used, we decided to be creative and have our guest join in the fun of giving. We set up a station with draw string back packs to be filled with goodies like: color books, stickers, candies, etc. At the end of filling, everyone wrote a sweet message to be included inside of their care package. This is all in the hopes that a small gesture will put on smile on their face.

Another successful event for the Social Butterfly team! We were able to raise $1,000 dollars for Gabriella’s Smile foundation. Social Butterfly looks forward to teaming up with this foundation again and building a bigger event for the kids next year.
