As a busy Mom, I feel like it’s safe to say that we all have those days when every day life just seems to be too much… the laundry is piling up, you’re to-do list is a mile long, you’re rushing to get little ones out the door all while wiping boogery faces and poopy butts, and somehow it seems like no matter what you do it’s just NOT enough. There aren’t enough hours in the day, and you just don’t have enough hands to do all the things you need to do.
Whether you’re a busy stay-at-home Mom, a working Mom with a long daily commute, or a single mom struggling to wear two hats, we all have those days where you feel like you’re being pulled in 10 different directions; the kids need help with homework, you’re now rushing to get dinner on the table and prep for another busy day, yet no matter how hard you try it just seems as if your best is NOT enough.
More often than not, we set such high expectations for ourselves because that is our nature as women and Mothers. We feel the need to go above and beyond for those we love, and work so hard day in and day out to please others and give them our best at the expense of our own wants and needs. Even still, we are so quick to focus on our failures and shortcomings rather than recognizing and celebrating our accomplishments- because who has time for that right??! Instead we shift our focus to “mom guilt” and all the things we haven’t done or need to do, and end up feeling like we simply aren’t enough.
But hold up, wait a minute, Momma!! I’m here to remind you that when you feel like your best is not enough, it’s probably more than enough! If you are feeling down on yourself for not achieving everything you set out to do in a day then you’re probably doing something right and have actually accomplished more than enough. Even though they may not know how to tell you or simply don’t take the time to let you know, your people appreciate you more than you’ll ever know. They admire your commitment and your strength, and would be lost without you. They need you to do all the little things that take all your time and often times consume your days because no one can do them quite like you. So no matter how hard it can be to acknowledge on your worst days, know that your best is more than enough… YOU are enough!
